Indian Cricket Team wins 2nd Test Match at Vishakhapatnam |
The India vs. England Test Series 2024 has been nothing short of exhilarating, with each match offering its own twists and turns. The recently concluded second Test at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Vishakhapatnam on 5 February showcased India's dominance as they leveled the series with a resounding 106-run victory over England. Although England gives a tough fight but it was India who wins the Match. England scored the highest 4th innings total in India in the 2nd Test Match.
Day 4 dawned with high stakes for both teams. England, chasing a daunting target of 399 runs, commenced their innings with determination. Opener Zack Crawley and nightwatchman Rehan Ahmed provided a solid start, but India's relentless bowling attack, spearheaded by Jasprit Bumrah and Axar Patel, made early breakthroughs. Patel's dismissal of Ahmed and Kuldeep Yadav's crucial wicket of Crawley set the tone for India's dominance in the first session.
As the match progressed, England fought back valiantly, with Ollie Pope showcasing aggressive batting prowess. However, Ravichandran Ashwin's skillful bowling proved instrumental as he dismissed key English batsmen, including Pope and Joe Root, just before lunch. India's fielding brilliance, highlighted by a superb run-out executed by Shreyas Iyer, further dented England's hopes of a comeback.
After the lunch break, England's hopes rested on the shoulders of Ben Stokes and Ben Foakes. Despite their resilience, India's bowlers maintained pressure, with Bumrah's precision and Iyer's athleticism leading to crucial breakthroughs. While Foakes and Tom Hartley stitched together a partnership, India's disciplined bowling attack ultimately proved too formidable for England's lower order.
The match witnessed stellar performances from both sides. Shubman Gill's magnificent century in India's second innings provided a crucial lead, complemented by significant contributions from Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel. Meanwhile, Bumrah's exceptional bowling spell, including a six-wicket haul, showcased India's bowling prowess.
With the series now level at 1-1, anticipation mounts as the teams prepare for the third Test in Rajkot. The closely contested battles and thrilling displays of skill promise another enthralling encounter between India and England.
India's victory was largely attributed to their batting performance in both innings. Yashasvi Jaiswal stole the show in the opening innings with an outstanding double century that leveled the innings while wickets fell throughout the innings. Jaiswal's determination kept India from losing wickets early on and helped them score an enormous 396 runs. In the second innings, with a lead of 143 runs in hand but still requiring a competitive total, Shreyas Iyer and Shubman Gill rose to the occasion. Their crucial partnership, especially Gill's century, set England a challenging target of 399 runs, laying the foundation for India's victory.
Although India's batting set the tone, Jasprit Bumrah's outstanding bowling display was what ultimately won. Bumrah's explosive spell in the first innings destroyed England's top order, including the vital removals of Joe Root and Zak Crawley. His 6/45 on a difficult wicket demonstrated his ability to trouble the best batsmen in the game, setting the stage for India's dominance. Bumrah's skill was evident even in the second innings, as he broke important partnerships and removed important batsmen, like Ben Foakes, to further cement India's hold on the game. On the other hand both spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Kuldeep Yadav keep taking wickets and putting pressure on the batting by bowling economical overs. Ravichandran Ashwin was on the verge of getting his 500 wickets but Bumrah takes the last wicket and Ravichandran Ashwin has to wait for his 500th wicket till 15 February.
India's more accurate fielding, combined with outstanding batting and bowling efforts, was a major factor in their victory. India's fielders were alert and concentrated throughout the game, in contrast to other games where they lost badly due to missed opportunities. India demonstrated their will to seize every chance that presented itself with spectacular catches by captain Rohit Sharma and a masterful run-out by Shreyas Iyer to remove Ben Stokes.
Rohit Sharma's captaincy during the ODI World Cup showcased a remarkable run of 10 consecutive wins, guiding India to the final. Despite a loss to eventual champions Australia, Rohit's unselfish leadership shone through. His fearless batting at the top, scoring nearly 600 runs at a striking rate of 125, set a historic precedent in World Cup history. Be it captaincy or Batting Rohit Sharma was always spot on in ODI world Cup 2023.
Fearless Batting at the Top:
Rohit Sharma is without a doubt one of the best T20Is ever. Rohit Sharma's aggressive approach to batting at the top of the order was a highlight of the ODI World Cup. In addition to completely improving his own performance, Rohit's fearless style of cricket has come to be associated with India's success due to his constant effort of giving his team a competitive edge in every match in the start of the innings. Not only the aggressive approach but he can also solidify the innings if some quick wickets falls early on like we saw in the 3rd T20I against Afghanistan where Team India lost 4 wickets only for 22 runs along with Rinku Singh Rohit Sharma commanded the innings and India reached a total of 212 where Rohit Sharma scored 121 not out and give a winning total to the Team. India will certainly need this approach going into T20I world cup 2024. Currently there is no Indian opener in race who can do both play aggressive and if needed bat till last.
With only five to six months to go until the T20 World Cup Selectors should not think of taking too much risk at this stage because that might hamper the chance of India winning the T20 world Cup. Rohit Sharma's solid strategy and tactical leadership may be the main factors propelling India's pursuit of T20 World Cup success.

With Rohit Sharma leading the team, Team India is guaranteed to be not only competitive but a strong contender for winning T20I World Cup 2024 title. With hopes high and expectations even higher, the cricket community awaits Rohit Sharma's preparation to lead the charge in 2024 with great anticipation.
India vs Afghanistan 3rd T20I- India beat Afghanistan in third T20 after two thrilling Superovers.
Rohit Sharma during his inning of 121 against Afghanistan |
India set a target of 213 for Afghanistan and in Chasing 212, Afghanistan too ended with the same score. Then Afghanistan was asked to bat first in 1st super over and scored 16 runs which India equaled Afghanistan's score of 16 to equal the score once again. This time India was asked to bat first in second Super over this time India set a target of 12 runs for Afghanistan but the visitors could not chase down a target of 12 as Indian bowler Ravi Bishnoi picked two wickets in three bowl.
Right at the climax of a riveting dead-rubber clash between India and Afghanistan, the unexpected reappearance of Rohit Sharma during the second Super Over sparked debates about the rules and playing conditions. Why did the Indian skipper, who had initially swapped himself out during the first Super Over, come back to bat in the second Super Over ? In this article we will try to decode the intriguing scenario that unfolded during the thrilling encounter during India vs Afghanistan 3rd T20I match.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) provides clear guidelines for Men's T20Is, stating, "Any batsman dismissed in any previous Super Over shall be ineligible to bat in any subsequent Super Over." The pivotal term causing ambiguity in this scenario is 'dismissed.'
During first Super over in the chase of 17 runs, Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal reduced the equation to 2 off 1. In a tactical move, Rohit replaced himself with Rinku Singh, possibly with the aim of injecting speed into the run-scoring of last ball as Rohit was at non striker end and normally he was not going to face the ball anymore . The question that lingered was whether Rohit had been 'retired out' or 'retired not out.'
As per the ICC's playing conditions for Men's T20Is: "Any batsman dismissed in any previous Super Over shall be ineligible to bat if further Super Over takes place."
If 'retired out,' Rohit should have been ineligible to bat again in the second Super Over. However, he confidently strode back to the crease and contributed all 11 runs in India's second attempt. If 'retired not out,' Clause 25.4.2 of the ICC playing conditions comes into play.
Clause 25.4.2 of ICC states, "If a batsman retires because of illness, injury, or any other unavoidable cause, that batsman is entitled to resume his innings." However, it adds that if for any reason this doesn't occur, the batsman is to be recorded as 'Retired - not out.' In the case of a batsman retiring for reasons other than those mentioned, the innings can be resumed only with the consent of the opposing captain.
Conclusion:
The perplexing scenario surrounding Rohit Sharma's return to bat in the second Super Over against Afghanistan in 3rd T20I emphasizes the need for a comprehensive understanding of playing conditions. But Cricessence think that Rohit Sharma Retired hurt himself in 1st Super over and that allows him to come out to bat in second super over. As cricket fans await an official explanation from ICC or any officials. We will have to wait and see.

On seeing such record if you are not in wow than I think you are not going to see these type of stats in near future in T20I format. India is blessed to have not one but two such phenomenon players. These numbers do not bring only personal records to table but these numbers provides vast experience to the Indian team moving forward in T20 World Cup. Playing an young team in series matches is good but in an marquee event you need some experience players like these two.
In a press conference Rohit Sharma once said that we do not need anchor role in T20I anymore and it seems true seeing the present scenario in which T20 games have evolved. So to win the T20 World Cup both of them will have to modify their approach a little in T20I. We expect Rohit to go hard at the top and Virat to maintain that tempo and the last but not the least the most important expectation of an ICT fan from both of them is to perform in the eliminators matches with a proper intent which is lacking in every edition of ICC tournaments not only with these two but from the whole team. Rest all are okay with their selection in T20 squad. It is a very good decision of selectors to include these two in the T20I set up and it will be best if they play T20 World Cup in June in 2024. Whatever buzz is going around will be mum if they won the T20 World Cup but if they fail to do so then this decision may cost an chance to win an ICC trophy for BCCI.
In conclusion, the selectors' decision to include Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the T20I setup is commendable. As they gear up for the T20 World Cup in June 2024, the experienced duo holds the key to India's aspirations for glory in this marquee event.

India is going to host 3 T20I match series starting from 11 January. BCCI announced squad for Afghanistan T20I series on 7 January fans got excited after seeing the names of India's veteran duo Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the squad. Both senior batters return to T20I squad after 14 months as T20I was not priority due to ODI World Cup 2023. Their return to T20I squad confirms that they are going to play T20 World Cup 2024. Although opposition team is Afghanistan but this series is important because this will be the last contest of Indian team in T20 format before the ICC T20 World Cup in June this year. So, this will be final opportunity for Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid to finalize the squad for ICC T20 World Cup though some permanent members of the squad like Jasprit, Hardik, Surya is not available this will be opportunity for the management to test some new players.
In this article we will look at the possible XI of India for the 1st T20I against Afghanistan.
Openers
With Rohit Sharma back in the squad it is confirmed that he will open the innings. He is likely to be partnered by Yashasvi Jaiswal as the left-hander is an attacking batsman at the top and is likely to get the nod over Shubman Gill. Yashasvi has the ability to give quick start to the team and exert pressure on the bowlers from the opening over. Gill and Yashasvi are likely to compete for one spot in the T20 WC squad that is opening slot.
Middle-order
As before, Virat Kohli will bat at 3. He opens the innings for RCB in the IPL, but this will not be the case in international cricket. Although he has opened in Twenty20 Internationals before, but the circumstances were entirely different. Here he will bat at 3. Virat Kohli is likely to be followed by Tilak Varma in absence of Surya Kumar Yadav. The left-handed batsman provides stability at number 4 in TATA IPL for MI and here also his role is going to be similar . Jitesh Sharma and Rinku Singh will complete the middle-order. Jitesh is likely to be given a long rope by the team management as with current set up India requires a lower order wicket-keeper batsman in this case he also holds an edge over Sanju Samson for a place in the playing XI. Rinku is a confirmed selection in the final XI in absence of designated number 5 and 6 batsman Hardik and Jadeja.
All-rounder
It is anticipated that Axar Patel will compete with Washington Sundar and Ravi Bishnoi to get into the starting lineup. In addition to taking wickets, he can contribute with significant runs. In alternative of Ravindra Jadeja he will be like for like. If it is a bouncy pitch then Shivam Dube might get a nod in the 11 depending on condition.
Bowlers
Since Kuldeep Yadav is expected to hold his position, Ravi Bishnoi might not be able to secure a spot. In the second T20I against SA, Kuldeep had a five-for, so there's no need to bench him. Despite being the top-ranked T201 bowler in India, Ravi might have difficulties getting into the World Cup team. The three Twenty20 Internationals in South Africa saw him benched. The three pacers in the team are Avesh Khan, Arshdeep Singh, and Mukesh Kumar. They appear to be all set to participate in the

Rohit Sharma: The Unmatched Captaincy Choice for India in T20 World Cup 2024
After India's incredible World Cup journey in the ODI format, all eyes are now on the 2024 T20 World Cup. With a stellar record of winning ten straight matches in the most recent ODI World Cup, Rohit Sharma has become a strong favorite to continue the captaincy in the T20 format. Let's look into the main characteristics that make Rohit Sharma the best person to guide Team India to victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup.
Indian Captain Rohit Sharma |
2. Fearless Batting at the Top:
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli took a hiatus from T20Is after the 2022 T20 World Cup, allowing new talents like Hardik Pandya to take center stage. While Pandya has been the unofficial T20I captain for about a year, Rohit's remarkable ODI performances have reignited discussions about his return to T20 cricket.

With Rohit Sharma leading the team, Team India is guaranteed to be not
only competitive but a strong contender for the coveted T20I World Cup title in
